The National drug authority has donated 100 pieces of mama kits to Alur Kingdom to ensure safe pregnancy. Alur Kingdom still has some impoverished communities that lack proper health facilities, some of the facilities are still in the grade two status.
Recently President Museveni in his campaign rallies pledged to elevate most of the health center iis to health center iiis and health center ivs to district hospitals.
He also promised to construct a district hospital in Zombo district. However having all the facilities in place will be meaningless for mothers without Mama kits for a clean and safe delivery which prompted the National drug authority to' gift' the Alur King on his coronation so that his subjects may have safe delieveries.
Despite the increased cases of maternal mortality in Alur Kingdom for instance in Zombo according to the Uganda demographic and health survey 2011,there are only 438 per 100,000 live births yet in Nebbi post partum hemorrhage was the leading cause of death in mothers in July 2020 and June 2021.
The communications officer NDA,Fred Kalungi Kabuye said they have donated the mama kits for teenage mothers that are unable to provide for themselves.
He also cautioned teenagers from engaging in alcohol and drug abuse that forces them into early sex as result they are forced into teenage pregnancies.
He said they will continue partnering with Alur Kingdom to reduce the cases of maternal mortality and poor dosage of drugs.
Imagine some overdosing or undergoing themselves, it leads to drug
resistance which is not good to the human body.
He also called upon the community to ensure that they liaise with NDA to stop unlicensed clinics and drug shops from operating including quack health operators.
"Its a collective responsibility to have people in the community report their neighbours who are having unlicensed drugshops",He said. Emmanuel Omirambe, the NDA Westnile regional manager also cautioned the people of Alur Kingdom from taking drug concoctions which are not approved by them.
